Montecristo Cigar… Cuba’s Education System

Want to be impressed?? Try going to Cuba some day and speaking to anyone on the street under the age of, let’s say..60 or so.. This is a country of educated people, informed people and, considering their situation in life, worldly people. You may be wondering what I’m talking about considering the fact that these people aren’t really allowed to travel out of their country, and I felt the same thing, but their knowledge of the world was astonishing. Castro felt that knowledge was power and after the revolution he wanted to make sure that illiteracy was abolished. He insisted that people in rural areas, including housewives, were educated by those who would visit from the cities and prostitutes were encouraged to get an education after the profession was made illegal in 1961. Montecristo and all of the other cigar brands were instrumental in getting Cuba the funds it needed to bolster the education system and today it is inspirational to walk on the streets and speak to a country of intelligent individuals.
