Montecristo cigar lovers welcome!
Jun 25th, 2008 by Admin

My name is Brian Alejandro and I would like to welcome you to my blog on Montecristo Cigars. You see, their are lots of amazing cuban cigars out there and I had the pleasure of trying out lots of them over the past 18 years. However, one brand that I’ve stuck with for the longest, and found most consistent, is the Montecristo.
I first had the pleasure of smoking the Montecristo (No 2s) with my Dad and since then I’ve never looked back. I’ve tried No 4s, Edmundo’s and pretty much every model that they’ve put out. Although personally I like the Montecristo 2s, cigar enthusiast inside me love to smoke them all.
Who wouldn’t
So join me in my journey as I try out different Montecristo’s and write real reviews about them. Don’t forget your glass of scotch, as it’s required

Hi Brian, thanks for starting this Blog. I had a question, what is your favorite scotch to drink while smoking your Montecristo #2.
Well I personally enjoy the Glenfiddich brand (Green). Just seems to do it for me when I’m enjoying my Cuban cigars. I found this great article from the Vancouver cigar that might help you out further. Cheers!

Which MC would you suggest for a cigar novice?
Thanks!
Hey Steve,
Cuban Montecristo cigars are vary in strength so what I like to tell the novice smoker is not to repeat the same mistake I first made when smoking cigars. I always assumed that the smaller ring gauge cigars were milder but thats not always the case. A Monte No 4 can be a powerful little smoke, especially when young, I try to recommend a ( Make sure its from CUBA ) Montecristo No 2 and I try to tell folks to KEEP THE FLAME COOL. Take the first puff instead of puffing away until the flame is nice and hot, like cigarette smokers like to do. Keep the ash as long as you can as that is very helpful in keeping a cool flame. Taste the difference after an inch long ash has fallen, its quite significant. Notice how the cigar changes in flavor as you get from the beginning to halfway through your cigar and then to the end. Quite an evolution takes place.
Thanks for the comment
Thanks Brian! I recently hand my hands on some number 2s but gave them all away (yikes). Now I’ve got to hope for more. I’m pretty positive they are Cubans and they look just like all of your pics. After giving up cigs I’m thinking this might be right up my alley.
When you get Cuban cigars you will be tasting the very best… Good luck with your hunt..
Thanks for the comment.
im travelling to cuba and wondering how much i can expect to pay for a box of montecristo #4′s . help please
Hi Jacob….. Well, you’ve asked a pretty easy question…. From what I can see, I believe you’ll be paying somewhere around 108 CUC.. Very very affordable when you consider what you pay when you shop around the different countries of the world….. Be very sure that you go buy your cigars at a government store… You are going to be hearing many different sales pitches from many people you meet in Cuba… Everyone wants to sell you cigars and just assume that you are going to be getting terrible tasting counterfeits…No wait, count on it !! They are NOT what you want…. These particular Montes you want don’t cost much in Cuba so you may as well get the real thing…… DON’T BELIEVE ANY STORY YOU HEAR IN THE STREETS, ON THE BEACH, FROM A TAXI DRIVER OR FROM PEOPLE IN YOUR HOTEL…… They WILL sell you fakes!!!!!!! Thanks for the comment!
A great site to research before going to Cuba is http://www.marty.514crew.com/cigarprices.html….. This site tells you about almost all Cuban cigar prices in Cuba today!
I just got a 5×3 box of MC no 2. When I open the box there is a stamp inside the top lid that says USE JUN 07. As I mentioned before, I’m a novice but that seems old. Am I correct in assuming this is not a good thing?
Usually the factory code and Date are stamped on the BOTTOM of the box…. I’ve never seen one with it stamped on the inside of the lid… Is it a box of 25 cigars??
If it IS real and you have authentic cigars, then they will taste GREAT !
