Montecristo Robusto LE 2006
Jan 13th, 2010 by Admin
I just finished smoking one of these beauties and this being the beginning of 2010 lets you know that it had a bit of time to age in my humidor. Assuming that keeping it for a great length of time is an easy task would be foolhardy but the rewards you get for holding on to any cigar knowing full well that it is mellowing more and more every day make it all worth while. The draw and construction were perfect and needed very little attention and the aroma in the room was very pleasant indeed. This was a cigar with considerable complexity as well which really took me by surprise since one I had a few years back had a simpler approach. Once again I am reminded of how important it is to let a cigar rest and develop. The first inch or so revealed that full bodied Monte taste of wood and perhaps a dash of nuttiness and then mellowed out and gave me more of a complex sweetness mixed with notes of leather. As time goes on I will revisit this LE and see how time and the spanish cedar in my humidor affects it’s maturing process. One more thing………. The pairing with a glass of port worked out just fine!
