What if your Montecristo Cigars are fake?
Jul 23rd, 2009 by Admin
I’ve been smoking Montecristo cigars for quite some time now but even I was once duped by a fake Montecristo. This was back in my early days when I first started smoking. I was fortunate enough to be taught by my Dad about the fine points to look at to make sure I’m smoking a real montecristo cigar. But hey - I got PUNKD once too.
So how do you know if your Montecristo cigars are real and not fake …
Honestly, if you haven’t smoked a real one, you will never know the difference. Thanks to Photoshop and printing materials you can literally turn any Honduran piece of crap into a Montecristo cigar.
These counterfeiters print poor quality Montecristo labels and band Honduran and Mexican cigars that taste nothing like real Cuban tobacco. That is how they got me!
Now I agree there are some good non-Cubans out there but lets not be foolish and compare them to the Cuban Montecristo brand.
So how to avoid fake Montecristo cigars for good? Just follow these simple pointers:
1. Always get your Montecristo cigars from an authorized habanos dealer.
Many internet retailers selling Cuban cigars and Montecristo cigars are selling non-cuban cigars disguised as Cubans. If they are certified by Habanos, you should be able to:
2. Make sure the website has a ‘working’ phone number.
Just because a website is displaying a phone number doesnt mean that it’s working
-Yes it’s sad but true. Call them, ask them if they are an authorized dealer and not some kid in the bassment passing off Colts as Montecristo No 4s or something horrible.
3. If its too cheap - it’s fake
Real Montecristo cigars or Cuban cigars dont go for $100 a box (Box of 25 for sure)! That is ABSURD and you will definitely get what you pay for.
I hope this little article or ‘rant’ lol helps you out in getting real Montecristo cigars.
How can some retailers even sell fake Montecristo cigars? Now that is just sad.
